It is not necessary to clear a motion date with the court clerk prior to filing the motion.
- Discovery motions are to be scheduled before the Magistrate Judge.
- Tentative rulings are issued only at the hearing prior to calling the case.
For security reasons, paper copies of filings shall be removed from envelopes or folders before being placed in the chambers drop-box.
Efiling is mandatory as of January 2, 2008.
Two sets of mandatory chambers paper copies must be delivered directly to chambers by 12:00 p.m. (noon) of the court day following the efiling of any document. Counsel shall familiarize themselves with the Central District’s General Order 08-02 and 08-11.
- When it is necessary to file an ex parte application, counsel shall submit with the application a declaration indicating the necessity of the ex parte, that the opposing party(ies) have been notified and whether they oppose the application. The Court will notify counsel if a hearing is to be scheduled.

Submit a stipulation if you are seeking a continuance or extension of time. See General Orders 08-02 and 08-11 for the correct procedure to follow in submitting a stipulation and proposed order to the Court.
- Counsel should for no reason contact chambers, law clerks or the secretary.
- Inquiries re: status of motions, stipulations or proposed orders should be made by checking the docket sheet through PACER.
- If counsel have a calendar conflict, they should contact the Court Clerk as soon as possible.
- There are no occasions when electronic equipment is allowed in the courtroom without the Court's prior approval.
- To obtain a transcript of any reported or digitally recorded proceeding, please contact the assigned court reporter/recorder. To determine the court reporter/recorder for a particular proceeding, go to the
