Experience:U.S. PATENT OFFICE(1956-1959): While in law school, I served an a Patent Examiner in the US Patent and Trademark Office handling electro-pneumatic servo systems.

U.S. DEPT .OF JUSTICE(1959-1964): For the first 5 years as a lawyer I served as trial counsel in The U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. where I had civil and criminal law trial assignments as well as legislative and appellate experience.


PRIVATE PRACTICE(1964-date): Thereafter the balance of my professional life has been in private practice in California. The majority of my private practice has been in representing a wide range of both domestic and foreign clients in various intellectual property, antitrust, class action, white collar , contractual and real estate matters. Because of my technology background I have been increasingly been asked to serve in an ADR capacity in technology, patent, copyright and other IP related matters. I currently advise a few private clients on IP strategy.
Work History for the Past Five Years:Currently I primarily serve as an ADR neutral in patent and other IP and technology related matters as well as in competition law (unfair competition , antitrust, unfair trade practices etc.) disputes and complex litigation . I also serve as Senior Counsel to Sheldon & Mak in IP related matters and consult for a few clients. From 2000 to 2004 , I was a Senior Litigation Partner in Squire, Sanders & Dempsey from which firm I retired to focus on being an ADR neutral and to join Sheldon & Mak as Senior Counsel.

Dispute Resolution Experience:Throughout the last 20 years I have been involved as counsel in representing clients in various types ADR proceedings. I have for the last five years been increasingly serving as an mediation and arbitration ADR neutral. I have been involved in patent, copyright, trademark, unfair competition, antitrust and numerous technology related ADR matters.
Professional Licenses:I am a member of both the California State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. In addition I am Registered to Practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

I have in the last 5 years lectured on those subjects at various meetings of the ABA and the LACBA. I have also lectured in intellectual property and trade law topics to various bar groups in China, Japan and Korea.
