Position Overview: 

The United States District Court and the Probation and Pretrial Services Office is recruiting for a detail-oriented individual who possess skill and accuracy with numerical calculations, knowledge of automation financial systems, and excellent customer service skills. This position reports to the Financial Supervisor.

Representative Responsibilities: 
  • Performs accounting tasks for all monies paid into the court pending the outcome of litigation.
  • Performs accounting tasks for monies disbursed by the court including money paid to various agencies and individuals in satisfaction of court orders.
  • Maintains and analyzes accounting records consisting of a cash receipt journal, registry and deposit fund, various subsidiary ledgers and other records necessary to properly account for the revenues and expenditures of the court.
  • Coordinates with judges, magistrates and their staff, as well as the Clerk of Court and staff regarding all financial transactions.
  • Performs cashiering duties, counts monies received and processes receipts and deposits in appropriate bank accounts.
  • Processes victim restitution payments and provides customer service to victims and their representatives.
  • Receives, reviews and prepares payment vouchers received, and enters data into the automated check writing/accounting system.
  • Able to convey thoughts and ideas with clarity in writing using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of specialized experience equivalent to work at a CL 23.
  • Two years of accounting experience, 10-key and data entry skills. Cashiering experience a plus.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with the public.
  • Dependability and reliability are a must.
  • College degree preferred.
Physical Requirements: 

Successful candidate must be able to bend, pull, push and lift up to 20 pounds, reach, walk, stand and/or sit for extended periods, with or without accommodation.
