Position Overview:

The Office of Information Technology for the United States District Court and the Probation and Pretrial Services Office for the Central District of California is seeking full-time PC Administrators to provide help desk support for the Western Division in Los Angeles, California. The Central District of California consists of four courthouse locations and thirteen Probation and Pretrial Offices. The incumbent performs work related to setting up, maintaining and supporting computer systems, mobile devices, and courtroom technologies. Occasional travel to other divisional offices may be required.

Representative Responsibilities: 
  • Provide information and troubleshooting assistance to court staff via the IT Help Desk for applications,hardware, mobile devices and wireless technology.
  • Perform tasks including installation, troubleshooting, repair, and configuration of a wide array of hardware and software over the phone, in-person or remote connection.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, implementation, and support of computer security software.
  • Develop and implement protocols and procedures directly related to Information Technology.
  • Develop and maintain local court technical and user documentation.
  • Provide onsite training for hardware, software applications and mobile technology.
  • Monitor day-to-day help desk activity by logging calls and communications received by the IT Help Desk in a tracking system.
  • Perform periodic inventory of hardware and software, ensuring only licensed copies of software are in use and complies with asset management procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on computers, peripherals, and mobile communication equipment.
  • Responsible for working with other members of the court in planning and preparation for court related and special events, including telephonic conferences, video conferences, and use of various courtroom technologies.
  • Monitor new developments in computer hardware, software and data communication capabilities, andadvises court managers of available options and their potential applications to court needs.
  • Maintain collaborative communication with other Information Technology court personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: 
  • To qualify for the PC Administrator position, an applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of specialized work experience (specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible experience related to the technical aspects of information technology, office automation, and data communications and their applications, terminology, and methodology).
  • The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, able to communicate with confidence, clarity, conciseness, and tact.
  • The successful candidate will possess the ability to work effectively in a team environment and exhibit at all times a courteous, professional and cooperative attitude, and a self-imposed standard of integrity and excellence.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows OS, MS Office products, Adobe Acrobat, Anti-virus and Malware software in an Active Directory environment.
  • Fundamental understanding of desktop virtualization, preferably with VMWare.
  • Knowledge of MS SharePoint is highly desired.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting iOS and other mobile devices.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school in related field of study.
  • CompTIA A+ Certification.
  • Microsoft Office Specialist Certification.
  • Detailed-oriented, meticulous, and highly organized with excellent project management skills.
  • Dependable with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Problem solver who is results oriented with the ability to analyze, isolate, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Training Experience.
  • Familiarity with VoIP communication systems.
  • Experience working in a court or with high level personnel.
  • Possess the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks efficiently despite frequent interruptions.
  • Capability to effectively explain technical concepts to personnel at all levels of IT knowledge.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrate proactive and responsive customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
