Brian D. Karth Appointed as District Court Executive and Clerk of Court for the Central District of California

The United States District Court for the Central District of California announces the appointment of Brian D. Karth as District Court Executive and Clerk of Court.  Mr. Karth succeeds retired District Court Executive and Clerk of Court Kiry K. Gray.

Mr. Karth has devoted his decades-long career as a court administrator to improving the administration of justice.  Most recently, starting in 2020, Mr. Karth served as Clerk of Court for the United States District Court for the District of Alaska.  From 2012 to 2020, he served as District Court Executive and Clerk of Court for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.  From 2008 to 2011, he served as Clerk of Court for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Arizona.  Mr. Karth also worked as a court administrator in high volume state courts from 1991 to 2008 and United States Immigration Courts from 1986 to 1991.

Mr. Karth received his Master of Public Administration and graduate studies specialization certificate in Judicial Administration from the University of Southern California and his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Arizona State University.

The Central District of California is comprised of the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo.  It serves more than 19.3 million people, nearly half the population of the State of California.
