Media Credentials for the Exhibition and Reception of Herman Leonard’s Pillars of Jazz

The United States District Court for the Central District of California is sponsoring an Exhibition of Herman Leonard’s Pillars of Jazz and a reception on September 28, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the 1st Street Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles.  The exhibition will feature Mr. Leonard’s photographs of jazz legends such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Sarah Vaughn and many others.   Musical guests include The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance Ensemble at UCLA, the Singers in Law, and rising jazz vocalist Tiffany Austin.  KJAZZ’s Bubba Jackson will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.  This is a public event.  Credentialed media are invited to the event.  There is no charge to attend the reception.

Event Credentials:   The United States District Court will issue working event credentials to accredited members of the media.  Accredited members of the media include daily newspapers, wire services, national and local publications that regularly and substantially cover news events or are assigned to cover the Court.  Credentials will only be issued to websites that are affiliated with local, regional or national news-gathering organizations or have demonstrated professional standards covering news events.  Personnel must be full-time staff members.  Photo passes will be issued only to accredited photographers on assignment for an approved media organization.  All passes and credentials are non-transferable and are subject to immediate revocation if transferred to any other person, including non-working members of the media organization.  No credentials will be issued to individuals under the age of 18.  Photographers using equipment with the ability to collect or record any film, video, digital video or audio recordings ("recorded material") may not, at any time, collect or record recorded material of the Event.

Journalists must submit a credential request no later than noon on September 26, 2017.  To request a media credential, submit your name, title, organization, type of credential requested (i.e., photographer, videographer, television, radio, newspaper, website), address, telephone number, email address, and an assignment letter indicating the person assigned to cover the Event.  Assignment letters must be on company letterhead.  Credential requests must be submitted to Media_CACD@cacd.uscourts.gov.  On the subject line of the email, indicate “Credential Request for the Leonard Exhibit”.  Direct all inquiries/questions for media and photo credentials to Sara Tse Soo Hoo, sara_tse_soo_hoo@cacd.uscourts.gov, (213) 894-8481.

Check-In:  Credentialed members of the media may check in at the Media table in the lobby starting at 3:30 p.m.  For security reasons, credentialed members of the media are issued a name badge upon checking in.  A valid identification that matches the submitted name must be shown and credentials must be picked up in person.  You may be denied admission or asked to leave the event if you are not wearing a name badge.
