Resumption of Jury Trials

In light of the declining number of COVID-19 cases among court personnel and in the counties of the Central District of California, the Court’s Executive Committee approved resuming jury trials on February 22, 2022. February 22, 2022 is the earliest date jurors can be called in for service. The United States District Court for the Central District of California announces the following regarding the resumption of jury trials and operations of the Court. 

Effective February 22, 2022:

  • Civil and criminal jury trials will resume.
  • The operations of all divisions will return to being governed by General Order 21-08 until further notice.
  • Per General Order 21-08, all individuals seeking entry to, or occupying, the United States Courthouses or Probation and Pretrial Services Offices in the Central District of California and everyone in the courtroom for in-court proceedings must follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s most recent guidance regarding face coverings or masks.

The Court continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic as it evolves and will provide updates concerning the Court’s operations as adjustments are made.
