Jury Scam Alert

Please be aware that there have been reports of individuals in the community receiving calls, emails, and text messages.  The caller or sender claims to be from the local police or sheriff’s department. The threatening voice or email states that the individual failed to appear for jury service and that a Judge from California Central has issued a warrant for their arrest.  This is a scam and not a legitimate communication from the Court.

If you receive such scam communication, please call your local law enforcement agency to report it.  If you receive an email or text scam, do not click on links or open any attachments. Disregard the email or text message.

Please be aware that

  • Courts do not demand payment by telephone, text message, email, or mobile payment application to resolve jury-related matters.
  • Courts do not instruct individuals to purchase gift cards, use cryptocurrency, or transmit funds to avoid arrest or penalties for jury service issues.
  • Members of the public who receive suspicious communications should not provide personal or financial information and should independently contact the court at an official phone number listed on the court’s public website or summons.

If you have been a victim of a crime, you may contact the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) Report Fraud website or the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Common Frauds And Scams website.
