Judge Suzanne H. Segal

Suzanne H. Segal was appointed as a Magistrate Judge in 2002. Prior to her appointment, Judge Segal served as an Assistant United States Attorney, Civil Division, and Chief of Civil Appeals in the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Earlier, she practiced civil litigation in Los Angeles with Adams, Duque and Hazeltine and Dewey Ballantine. Judge Segal has served as a member of the Executive Committee, Los Angeles County Bar Association Litigation Section, and as Coordinator of the Central District of California’s Pro Bono Panel. Judge Segal became Chief Magistrate Judge for the Central District on January 1, 2012 and will serve in this capacity for a four year term. The Chief Magistrate Judge provides leadership to the Central District's 25 Magistrate Judges and serves as a representative of the Magistrate Judges on all Court committees.

Judge Segal received her undergraduate degree from Claremont McKenna College, cum laude, and her law degree from Cornell Law School.
